Join Our 100% Employee-Owned Company
At Kline Electric, our tools, training, technology, and manpower challenge industry standards and create a foundation for excellence for our company, employees, and customers. If you’re ready to start your career in the electric contracting industry or want to grow your skills with the right company, we need people like you to join our team.
Our mission is to provide every one of our employees with a safe, honest, and helpful work environment. We created a 5 Star Safety Program so that everyone goes home safely at the end of the day. Additionally, our employees have a stake in the work they do with our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
Kline Electric’s Employee Stock Ownership Program
Through our Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), Kline Electric employees share in the pride and experience of building our powerhouse business. Our ESOP is an employee retirement plan where you’re given an account invested in Kline Electric stock (a privately-held company). We fund the plan completely — you don’t put any of your own money into it. This is a way we can share the business with all of you as employee owners.
FAQs About Our ESOP
I’ve never heard of an ESOP. Is it something new?
While this is an innovative concept for our industry, employee-owned companies have been around for many years, and they’re nationwide.
Is the ESOP replacing the 401(k) Plan?
The 401(k) Plan is staying as a way for you to save for retirement. The ESOP is an additional retirement plan that only the company funds.
What does it mean for Kline Electric to be employee-owned?
Being employee-owned doesn’t affect the way our company operates — everyone still plays their part in the structure of the company — it just affects the stake employees have in the company’s success. When the company does well, you get to share in that success through the stock in the ESOP.
Your Career Path at
At Kline Electric, we give our employees great opportunities to grow their skillset and progress in their careers. Starting out as an apprentice allows you to discover and acquire skills to become a Journeyman Electrician, and therefore creates the opportunity to tackle any field of interest. Growth is unlimited when you have the determination and education to stand on. From there, you’re able to branch out even more into a specialized area within your division.
We created our own apprenticeship program called Kline University. By starting your career with Kline Electric, you’ll have a solid foundation of electrical expertise for a successful career. Our apprentices are motivated to achieve a higher standard of safety, time management, and overall electrical knowledge on top of the standards found in other programs.
While we had worked previously with another academic program, we felt our apprentices had more to learn while in school, and so the evolution began. Working with the Mike Holt Curriculum at Hawkeye Community College, we have been able to bring the apprentice program to Kline Electric while still meeting, if not exceeding, all of the academic requirements for graduation after four years.

There are numerous benefits to choosing a trade, including graduating sooner and earning as you learn with on-the-job training.
